My goodness, can you really believe that 2016 is nearly over already? It’s been an incredibly busy, hectic year and time has just flown before we realised it!
And what’s even more unbelievable is that this blog has been running for 8 months now! I started this blog back in May 2016, and here I am still trundling along nearly a year on.
During this time I’ve also been lucky enough to get to know so many fantastic fellow bloggers, and speak to so many awesome readers! The fact that people actually enjoy reading about some of the frankly bizarre places I’ve been will never fail to make me smile, and you guys have made my first dip in to blogging incredible. Thank you!
So to round off the year, lets take a look at some of my favourite travel experiences of 2016!:
July
Meeting the cats at Lady Dinah’s
I was positively buzzing to visit Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium for the second time this July! This adorable British cat café boasts cosy surroundings, great food and a plethora of cuddly felines, and both my visits have been a total delight.
August
Shopping in Harajuku & Shibuya
It’s extremely hard to narrow down the best parts of my Japan 2016 trip, but exploring the colourful shopping districts of Harajuku and Shibuya definitely stand out! Japan is a positive explosion of colour and quirkiness, and nowhere reflected this quite as well as it’s two most youthful districts.
Tokyo Disney Sea
How could I write a list of my travel highlights without mentioning Tokyo Disney Sea? This ridiculously gorgeous attraction was my first taste of a proper theme park, and one I don’t think I’m going to top for quite some time – if ever!
Bodmin Prison
The incredibly spooky Bodmin Prison was simply the best part of my family trip Cornwall this year. Atmospheric, fascinating and very, very haunted, this crumbling 17th century jail ticked all the boxes for me! I just wish I could have taken part in one of the after-dark ghost tours….
September
Jack the Ripper Museum
In September I paid a visit to the recent – and controversial – Ripper Museum in Whitechapel. But far from being offended I found this an attraction that was utterly engrossing – if not for the faint-hearted!
October
Highgate West Cemetery
On the frosty eve of Halloween 2016 I fulfilled a long-held ambition and joined a tour of Highgate West Cemetery. The rumoured lurking ground of a modern-day vampire, I (thankfully) encountered no dark entities during my trip, but plenty of eerie crypts and mausoleums instead!
December
Covent Garden Christmas Lights
What better way to round off the year than checking out Covent Garden’s amazing Christmas display! I visited a few displays around London, but none were quite as spectacular as these. Just look at them!
Before I go I’d just like to give my heartfelt thanks to all my amazing readers!
The fact that people actually take the time to read this blog means an awful lot to me, and I look forward to bringing you more great content in 2017! I’m constantly striving to improve this blog and keep things interesting and surprising, so thanks for sticking with me as I continue to grow as a blogger.
Happy 2017 guys!

I’ve now added Bodmin Prison and the RIPPER Museum to my list for 2017, I hadn’t heard of either but now very keen for both.

I haven’t heard of the Jack the Ripper museum but have a fascination with serial killers (in a non-creepy way!) so it sounds right up my street! Happy new year to you from a new follower 🙂
